The Rankin Inlet Men’s Healing Facility, located in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, has been featured on Archilovers. The 32,000 square foot correctional centre was designed by Parkin Architects in collaboration with Accutech Engineering Inc. to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of Indigenous men in conflict with the law.
The facility includes a 32‑bed medium‑security unit and a 16‑bed minimum‑security unit, along with program spaces, a gymnasium, chapel, kitchen, medical and segregation units, staff offices, and admitting and discharge areas. Rooted in Inuit approaches to justice, the design prioritizes healing, accountability, and connection to community rather than punishment. Its curving form responds to the surrounding landscape and is elevated on steel piles to accommodate permafrost conditions, while interior spaces encourage interaction between residents, staff, and community members.
